Im experiencing this error when importing a .DWG into TBC. The engineer is using Autocad Engineer 2023. Ive had the engineer try dating the file back to 2013 and removing the Xrefs with no luck. Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this?
Thank you!
Download the latest version of Trueview.
I had that exact issue with a file last week, if you have access to Civil3D you can re-export it, otherwise you can download TrueView for free and convert it.
Can you upload the .dwg?
13 SITE PLAN.dwg (1.5 MB)
Here is the file im having issues with.
ACAD-13 SITE PLAN-Model.dwg (1.4 MB)
ACAD-13 SITE PLAN-Model_hatch.dwg (228.1 KB)
ACAD-13 SITE PLAN-Model_Modify.dwg (1.3 MB)
ACAD-13 SITE PLAN-Model TO TBC.vcl (1.9 MB)
I couldn’t replicate your issue; I imported the file and did the drag and drop method. Hopefully this will get you going!
Erik Peterson suggestion of opening the file in C3D and using the output - Civil 3D DWG and selecting 2018 solves the issue - just opening the file and using wBlock to export the data or looking through the object types that could be a potential issue did not work for me - so Eriks approach is likely the solution.
Note that Autodesk now offer a token method to purchase Civil 3D which is a lot cheaper than buying a full license for the full year - I think they give you 200 tokens and you burn 2 tokens for each day of use (a single opening of the product is a use day on any day of the year). The cost if I remember was less than half price, and it gives you 100 days of use in a year - you can buy again if you run out of tokens - for part time, limited use users it is a pretty good model if you need to get C3D to support your workflows - it can save a lot of time requesting changes from Engineers 0- they can just send you all the files and you can sort it out from there.

I have also opened the .dwg in AutoCAD LT and just resaved it as a .dxf and I was able to drag and drop that into TBC as well. Hope this helps!
