The following Template and Menu configuration files have been developed for use with Trimble Business Center v2025.20 and RPS Command Library v2026.2. The configurations provided are designed for optimal use with RPS workflows and the RPS Navigate command configured to a hot key on your mouse. We recommend the use of the Logitech MX Master 4 Mouse with our command library. You can find configuration files and instructions for using that mouse at this link - Click Here

Latest RPS Project Template For US Foot Projects

Here is a starter project template for Takeoff using RPS Smart Feature, RPS Smart Takeoff and RPS Smart Profile commands.

The template has Layers and Layer Groups suited to use with the default RPS Smart Feature library for Site, Highways, Cross Section and Profile Takeoff workflows.

While doing Takeoffs using RPS tools, we recommend the following key process steps

  • Use the Takeoff_MR2 RPS Navigate Menu Configuration
  • Import and Georeference PDF Sheets using PDF Manager
  • Extract PDF linework using PDF Manager
  • Cleanup extracted linework using CAD Cleanup
  • Prep your linework in 2D using commands like Relayer, New Layer, Layer Manager, Smart Edit, and Smart Draw. At this stage do not attempt to get the lines to represent the area features - get the linework correct to represent the “lines on the ground”. Try to only have one line in any single location. These will be on layers in the following layer groups
  1. 01C - EX - SURFACE FEATURES - For lines and points that will be used to create the Existing surface model
  2. 02B - FG - LINE & POINT FEATURES - For lines and points that will be used to create the Finished Grade surface model
  • Use Smart Feature to create all of your Features - Areas, Lengths, Counts. Length Width, Length Area and use the source linework to create copies on the layers inside the following Layer Groups
  1. 01B - EX -AREA FEATURES - For Existing Features - Non Demolition related
  2. 01D - EX - DEMOLITION (ALC) - For Existing Features - Demolition Related
  3. 02C - FG - AREA FEATURES - For Finished Grade Area Features used for Subgrade Adjustments
  4. 02E - FG - OTHER (ALC) - For Finished Grade Features, used for Area Length Count Takeoff Reporting, but not to subgrade adjust the Finished Grade surface
  5. 02F - FG - OTHER (NON ALC) - For Finished Grade Features, not used for any Takeoff reporting.

In Smart Feature, we recommend the use of the Copy, Track, Region Track and Shrink Wrap processes vs the Assign Process for all Feature creation, because these creat copies of the data for the Features, leaving the original 2D linework behind for the Elevate and Model steps.

  • Use Smart Elevate to elevate the 2D lines to create the 3D lines required for the Models for EX - Existing and FG - Finished Grade surfaces
  • Now use Smart Takeoff to carry out the Takeoff Workflow and generate your Takeoff Reports
  • Now use Smart Model to create your Cut Fill Maps
  • Now use Smart Plot to generate your final deliverables

Latest RPS Menu Congfiguration Options

We are now maintaining 2 TBC Menu Configurations as shown below. If you want to immerse yourself in the use of the RPS Navigate command (the pop up Puck Menu on your cursor), we recommend that you use the first option below. This has removed all functions that are on the Navigate Menu from the TBC / RPS menus. We have found that by removing easy access to commands on the menus that are on the navigator menu, forces you to think Navigate for access to your commonly used commands, you will learn those tools pretty quivckly and then start to reap the rewards of the transition to the RPS Navigate and RPS workflow methodology. While in the first few days of the transition, you will find that you still look for things on the menus, but soon realise that the Puck menu is where they are now located, and this will train you into use of the new approach quickly.

RPS - v2026.2 - Minimum Menu.bin (2.8 MB)

The second option is the Full Standard TBC Menu combined with the Full RPS Command Menus - this provides access to all TBC and RPS functionality using the standard TBC and RPS menus

RPS - v2026.2 - TBC Standard + RPS.bin (2.9 MB)

To load a menu configuration, go to Support - Customize Ribbon - Import and browse for the downloaded file and OK.

If you want to utilize the RPS standard Menus with your preferred default menu configuration, load that configuration first, then run RPS Menu Manager command and click Reset RPS Menus, then click Refresh Icons. The RPS Command Menus will be added to your menu configuration. Now use Support - Customize Ribbonb, and then Export your preferred configuration to a foloder that is safe on your computer. We recommend \Documents\TBC Master\Menus etc as a good file structure to use, keeping a sub folder for each of your backups eg Menus, Options, Template Files.
