I could use an addition to the Smart Elevate Command that allows you to Elevate Points from a linestring.
When I create points for a Road Project, I like them to be on even station Intervals. I have a good method of creating the horizontal position of the points using the Xlines commands and the offset command. However, coming back and elevating the points takes manual work leaving room for error. I would love to be able to select a group of points and a linestring and have it update the elevations perpendicular to the line.
If you make a surface out if your lines, you can use sma=t elevTe - simple mode to elevate points to the surface
Also if you have 3Dines and you create XLINES then you can elevTe the XLINES to the 3D lines using Smart Elevate - By Interscting Lines and once you have the 3D XLINES I am assuming that you want 3D points at each elevated node of the XLines - you can use the Create Points from CAD to do that or use Point Creator to do that to create 3D points at each node.
I created X-Lines at a 25’ interval extending 3’ beyond the pavement line in an effort to create 3’os EP points. Then I used Intersect Command to elevate the lines to the EP and Crown. The only issue I ran into was the X-Lines held the slope instead of Leveling off from the EP Line. On this simple job I could solve it by not including the crown, but I am not sure it would work on some of my more complex projects.
If you create offset lines for the 3D lines at the edges that have the same Z as the edge lines, then when you elevate the line it will level out for you, the additional lines need only be a short distance from the current lines, they will then be elevated the same and that will make the XLINES horizontal at the edges not sloped.
to get even station intervals. if you convert to linestring your alignment and then break it on the station you want to start like 100+25 and give it a 25 foot interval it will give you points on the 25. and the converted alingment keeps the begging station information
