My Overexcavation Summary in the Custom Takeoff Report is blank but I can see the surface in TBC. Anyone know what I’m missing?
I have noticed that occasionally the takeoff report as it shows in TBC skips every other page as you scroll down.
Check it in the excel output and make sure it is still missing. This started happening after the last update.
Thanks. I’ve checked the excel report and verified there are no site improvements overlapping the FG - Site Limits layer. Still get nothing in the Overexcavation Summary. This site has no topsoil stripping…I’m not sure if that would affect the report.
I can’t figure it out. I’ve run surface comparisons manually in three scenarios:
Orig vs Overexcavation
Overexcavation vs FD SG Adj
Overexcavation vs FD
All of these pads appear to be in a FILL situation. So the Orig vs OverExc should be the actual quantity of material to be overexcavated…Correct?
03 OverExc vs FD.pdf (269.2 KB)
02 OverExc vs FD SG Adj.pdf (281.3 KB)
01 Orig vs OverExc.pdf (271.1 KB)
Can you share your project?
Erik, project is shared here: 1071-OTAY ATP01.vce
I did RPSCopy on all your data into a new project, added the over-ex areas and ran the takeoff report, it worked.
In your project I just right clicked remove on the “Overexcavation” under selection explore. Then re-added them and it showed up. My numbers may be a bit off cause I did do not track break lines to get it to run faster and my parameters for over-ex may be different after re adding.
I’d try just removing them from selection explorer, then re add them normally and re running it. Looks like a bug to me.
I deleted the Overexcavation surface and completed the workflow a second time. That fixed it…Originally, I completed overexcavation before I completed the Takeoff surfaces. Maybe that’s what caused the issue.
Last question, does anyone know why these surface reports differ? My Takeoff Report identifies 7,024 CY of Overexcavation vs 7,600 CY in the Surface to Surface comparison between Original Ground and Overexcavation.
Is this due to the subgrade cuts in the Takeoff Report?
I’m going to say yeah
The Overex Surface if you look at it will have Cut Area and Fill Areas - The Takeoff Report does not report the Fills - TBC does not truncate the surface when it goes from Cut to Fill, so it truncates it when it runs the numbers, a Surface To Surface report would need to do the same to give you the same numbers.
The Overex will come up to the base of FD surfaces whichever is the lowest of the 3 FD surfaces - ie FD with Subgrades Adjusted or FD with Subgrades Adjusted and Topsoil absent. So the Overex Number is not from FD to Overex it is from the lowest of the three D surfaces to Overex. If the OX surface does not hit FD before it hits OG then it will stop at the lowest of the three OG surfaces (Below Topsoil Strip and Demolition Removals)
