In the video below we show you how to use the Smart Takeoff command to model overexcavation of non native soils deposited on a site over time, beneath building pads for new construction
Starting with the building pad lines, we offset those using Multi Offset Line by 5’ to the outside to create the oiverexcavation envelope for each pad.
For the site, we built the Existing Ground Surface, then entered boring logs for eavh location where the native existing ground surface was encountered for each pad, or these could have been extractyed from the geotechnical report for the site if available. So now we have a strata surface for the base of soils (Native Existing Ground) below the curernt existing ground.
The site has varying depths of non native solis from 0’ to 6’ deep.
We then use the Overexcacvation function of Smart Takeoff to calculate the overexcavation surface comprising a number of selected pads, down to the selected strata surface. The overex report shows for each pad the overexcavation quantity (soils to be removed) and the granulatr backfill and the net effect on the standard Cut / Fill calculations that needs to be accounted for.
