Command Licensing and Default Menu Location

  • The Export LAS command is part of the RPS Modeling Toolbox
  • The command is located on the Reporting macros menu ribbon
  • The command is located in the Export menu group

Command Description

Provides the ability to batch export any number of Point Cloud Regions to individual LAS files for use in other software solutions.

Command Interface Description

The Export LAS command dialog looks as follows

Select region(s):
All the point cloud regions in the current project are listed in the table. In the selected column, check the boxes for the point cloud regions that you wish to export.

You can resize the table area of the dialog using a right click and drag of the mouse when over the table area.

File location:
The LAS files that are exported can be created in the current project’s Project folder or you can browse for and select a folder on your computer / network. Select either Project folder or Browse for folder option.

Export
When you tap Export, the selected point cloud regions will be exported to LAS files in the target location on your computer. The command will ready itself for another selection set and repeat process execution.

Results Pane:
The results pane will show you that the point cloud regions that you selected were exported successfully to a .LAS file.

OK
Executes the current process (does the same thing as Export button)

Switch cmd
Click the Switch cmd button to close the command, close all running commands or switch to a different running command. You can also press the ESC key on your keyboard to poop up the Switch cmd list by the current cursor location on screen.

Other Information
The following details may also be important

Output LAS format = version 1.2
Point Sampling = Sample your point cloud regions if needed prior to exporting using this tool
Export Units = The units of the project you are working in
Scaling = Grid
Split by Scan Station = Not Supported - this tool only exports based on by point cloud region
