About Smart Feature Command

Smart Feature is a new way to carry out 2D Takeoff (stand alone use), Cross Section Takeoff, and 3D Takeoffs (in combination with the Smart Takeoff command).

Smart Feature can utilize your existing MSI (Materials and Site Improvement Library) to build a Smart Feature Library for use with Smart Feature command.

The Smart Feature command provides the following key workflows

  • Create Materials Library - Earthen / Native Materials and Purchased Construction Materials along with their defined units or measurement ie Linear Feet / Meters, Square Feet / Square Yards / Square Meters, Cubic Yards / Cubic Meters, Tons/Tonnes, Counts etc.

  • Create Feature Types e.g. Finished Grade length Features, Finished Grade Area Features, Finished Grade Count Features etc.

  • Create Features e.g. Asphalt HD Pavement, Asphalt LD Pavement, Sidewalk, Building Pad, Fence, Light Pole etc.

  • Create Utility Networks for Storm, Sanitary, Water, Electric, Gas etc.

  • Create Utility Features including Pipes / Cables / Conduits, Structures and Fittings eg Circular, Arch, Elliptical, Box Culvert Pipes, Manholes, Catch Basins, Drainage Inlets, Water Valves, Water Meters, Fire Hydrants etc,

  • Use CAD / PDF linework to create the Takeoff Features and compute material layer volumes / tonnage, lengths and counts complete with eg Rebar, Tie Bar abd Dowel Basket quantities for Concrete Pavement areas.

  • Run Smart Feature Reports to create Detailed and Summary Excel reports for

  • Topsoil Stripping Quantities

  • Demolition Quantities

  • Subgrade Quantities

  • Topsoil Replacement Quantities

Smart Feature can work with Plan or Cross Section Data. For Cross Sections, Smart Feature uses the End Section Area metjhod to compute material quantites directly from the cross sections, complete with Mass Haul analysis charts for road projects.

Smart Feature can be combined with Smart Takeoff for 3D Earthworks Takeoff (Topsoil handling, Demolition, Subgrade, Overexcavation, Strata from Boring Logs and full Cut Fill analysis.
