Utility trench takeoff double counting structure ex?

I have a main pipe run with several laterals tying into it. How do I keep from double counting trench excavation/backfill quantities at the structures?

An overall surface to surface would give you your total excavation, and subtracting all pipes/structures would give you your overall backfill quantities. You could subtract the individual runs from your known total exc/bf as a sanity check. How do your quantities report out for utilities? I don’t have the utility package/module for TBC, so not sure how useful my approach would be.

Can you just change the station of the lateral pipe to begin where the other excavation ends?

I wasn’t sure if changing that stationing in the properties would affect the pipe or bedding quantities. Seems like there should be an “intersection” function that merges these if the other run is labeled as a lateral or “minor” run to the overall run.

Thanks for the idea. The utility module does average end area to quantify all of these items through its own utility takeoff report.
