Using PDF Manager with TBC Georeferenced Images

On a training call today I was asked if you could use RPS PDF Manager with images that have been Georeferenced by TBC commands. The answer is Yes. However in the training we found that if you Georeferenced the PDF Page and applied a rectangular Clipping Boundary, and then afterwards you draw a boundary that you want to clip the image to (and later the extracted PDF Vector data), then that was not honored by PDF Manager. If you remove the Rectangular Clipping Boundary, and just have the Image Boundary then it works as you would hope it would.

So the steps are

  • Import the PDF Pages using TBC Import Command
  • Georeference the pages using the TBC Georeference Vector PDF Command - but do not apply a clipping rectangle.
  • Draw the image boundaries that you want and apply them as Image Boundaries to the Georeferenced Pages.
  • Now you can run PDF manager and extract the vectors from the pages and the vectors are all clipped to the Image Boundaries.

If the Images are already Georeferenced and the Clipping Rectangle was applied, select the page in the Imported Files List (Project Explorer) and Right Click to Georeference the image. In the Georeference command, uncheck the Rectangle Clipping boundary and click Register - this removes the Clipping rectangle. Now if you have applied a different Image Boundary, it will clip the image and then will clip the extracted vectors when you use the PDF Manager command.

Hope this explains it, please ask if not and I will record a video.
