We had a request today to provide an analysis of a long pipeline that has some steep slope sections >30% on it. The request was to create a plan drawing and profile of the pipe that clearly shows where the pipe has slopes of >30%, and to determine how much length of the pipe is in the <30% and >30% slope ranges.
The QA Lines tool can be used to indicate the areas of the pipe that are in those two slope ranges, or can show eg 0-25% as green, 25-30% as Orange and >30% as Red for example. That also labels the segments of the line with the length and slope values.
To report the line, we can use the Label Lines command to label the segments of the line using the Slope% and the Horizontal and or slope length of the segments. RThis command can also output a CSV file that can be opened and formatted in Excel to highlight the segments using Conditional Formatting to show the segments that are greater than 30% slope.
I also used RPS Cloud Services (AI Scripting) to
- Analyze the line and generate an Excel Report in RPS Report Format with the results
- Analyze the line and pass back color coded plan and profile drawings, with Grids, Labels and Tables that can be used in TBC Plan View to create final deliverables using Smart Plot.
The video below shows all the methods used and described above
Hope it helps
