Create Points on a Surface

I would like to be able to create a point and have the elevation extracted from my surface, is there a way to do this?

I think what your looking for is surface to points.

Or you can create your own points and use the change elevation command, set it to surface elevation, pick the surface you want, and it will auto elevate the points to that surface.

Create 2D points and then elevate them to the surface model

yeah but only one style tool. something with a blade unless its some fire method. The next option would be to create your points and select all of them. By using the Change Elevation command you can possibly save a little time by using this. Be sure to not have the box next to Drape only at vertices.
