I’m experiencing an issue when importing E57 files into Trimble Business Center (TBC). After importing, the file seems to be shifted to the southwest, causing alignment problems with my existing data. Interestingly, when the same E57 file is imported into Global Mapper, it works fine, and the corresponding LAZ file comes in at the correct location.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, any suggestions on how to fix this or work around it?
I would appreciate any guidance or tips on resolving this issue.
I have never used an E57. But I have had similar issues importing Land .xml Files that were International Feet into a Survey Feet Drawing. Could this be an issue with that file type?
When I started working with point clouds, I gravitated towards E57 initially and I did have some issues with mistranslation of international feet & us survey feet. Eventually I transitioned to .las and have very few issues. My workaround with most of the data translation issues I used to have was to set point cloud and imagery up in meters, and your software will perform the correct translation. For some reason I think some software labels as “feet” instead of us ft or ift and sometimes got mislabeled upon import.
