I have a project where I am trying to calculate the area of a wall. I took Shots on the bottom and top in the field and now I would like to make a deliverable for the engineer. I was able to create a surface and get the 3d area, but there is really nothing to show the engineer except the final number. Does anyone have a good trick for this?
My initial thought was to turn the bottom of the wall into an alignment and show the Bottom and Top of the wall in the profile view, But I cannot figure out how to do this in Trimble.
Under “Surfaces”, I run the “Surface Info Report” for reporting out areas that are vertical (walls). You will see two different areas reported: planimetric and actual. If it’s a wall, then the planimetric will be much smaller in comparison to the actual surface area.
Planimetric area is almost always listed on the bottom of page 1 in my report, actual surface area is listed at the top of page 2.
If you have an alignment (can be one of the two lines but better if it is a road alignment)
You can add the other lines as Vertical Alignments to the alignment or you can use create profile proxy for the two lines to the alignment.
Open the profile view for the alignment - you shoukd be able to see the other lines in the profile.
Not sure if track Region will work in profile view or with profile proxy or multiple vertical alignments - if not draw the area between the two lines and shade it in - then you can add text labels to provide the areas etc. Along with your report.
