TBC version 2023.11

Is anyone have issues with the newest version of Trimble Business Center V2023.11 because it seems I cannot open older versions of TBC even going back to the most recent before this at V5.91

Opening a TBC v5.4 Project File in an Older Version of TBC

Sometimes you may receive a Project File from us or you may have created a Project in eg v5.70 but for some reason you need to open it in e.g. 5.4.x, 5.5.x or 5.6.x of TBC. The challenge with this is that as TBC develops as a product, it adds capabilities to the software that were not available in an older version of the software. When you have e.g. TBC v2023.11 installed, it should be able to open projects from any prior version of TBC.

If you have 2023.11 installed and you save a project and then try to open that project in an older version of TBC it likely will not open because the 2023.11 project can have objects in the project that are new that did not exist in the older versions of TBC.

If you need to open a newer project in an older TBC version, you can normally do this as follows

Find the VCE file in Windows File Explorer
Drag and drop the file while holding down the CTRL and SHIFT keys and drop the file over the small grey tab that says either Start Page (if no project is open) or Plan View (if a project is open) and then release the file while holding down CTRL and SHIFT.

This will downgrade the project to the older version compatibility - it does that by removing object types that are newer and unsupported in the older version e.g. Reference Files, Overexcavation Templates, Composite Surfaces etc. Be aware that those can be removed and that can “cause you issues” if you ever reopen a saved version of the downgraded project in the newer version of TBC.
