Slope Slope Intersect Not Creating a line just Zero length line

I am creating trenches for duct banks and I am using the bottom lines extracted from 3D shells.
In there areas of vertical transitions I am using the Slope slope intersect to find the line where the two planes intersect. When I run the command using the end segments of each shape I am getting a zero length line segment instead of a line.
the first image shows the 3d shells I’m working with and the second shows the bottom lines from the shell and the green dot is the zero length linestring the command created. Currently I am taking that line and adding a segment perpendicular to the opposite side.

You may want to call me tomorrow on this - it sounds like you are trying to compute a slope slope between two lines rather than between two planes defined by 2 pairs of lines, maybe I am misinterpreting what you are saying here, but Slope Slope will not compute the intersection of two lines in the vertical plane - amy slight delta would cause the lines to miss and not intersect each other

Are you trying to compute where the sloping duct interscts the horizontal duct ie kind of the yellow lines that you are showing?

What I would do is the following

  1. Draw a line perp to the duct axis in two places between each pair of lines (4 lines in total

  2. Now run slope slope between two planes defined by the two pairs of lines - that will project a plane between each pair of lines to where they intersect and create a line at the intersect of the two planes

ie like this

Now use Slope Slope using the 2 pairts of lines

Use one of the lines as the Ref Line and use a sample of eg 0.2 between the start and end of the line

This will creeate the red Line shown here

I know that the diagram is not exactly the same as your situation, but the process will work on your data in the same way.
