Command Notes

The Trimble Business Center application has a standard menu configuration that does not include Custom Toolbars. This command allows you to add custom toolbars to the standard TBC menu system or to your own or Rockpile custom menu system quickly and easily. Below you will find an example toolbars.rps settings file that you can use to establish your first set of custom toolbars. Place this file in your RPS Settings folder (Run RPS Settings command from the Tool Shed menu and look in File Locations to determine the current path setting for the RPS Settings files).

Toolbars.rps (4.2 KB)

In TBC the Quick Access Toolbar, Custom Toolbars, Menu configuration and Command Shortcuts are all saved with the menu configuration file. You can create a menu configuration file by selection the Support Menu, select the Customize Ribbon command and then select Export. This will save a file to a location on your computer that you define - we recommend creating a folder under your Documents folder called TBC Master and then create a subfolder called Menu Configurations in which to store your menu setups in case you ever need to restore them.

You can create and edit custom toolbars initially using the Customize Tools function accessed only from the command pane (F12). This allows you to create any number of individual toolbars and then assign commands to those toolbars. The toolbars that you create can be docked along the top, bottom, left or right side of the screen, they can also be set to floating allowing them to be moved closer to your working location for faster easy access. Once you have created some toolbars, you can quickly edit them by right clicking in the Menu ribbon and selecting “Customize” (this function will only be available when you have some toolbars already created - note that this is the “Customize” and not the “Customize the ribbon” command.

You can create custom command shortcuts using the Support - Define Command Shortcuts command. This command allows you to assign keyboard shortcuts like F1, F2, CTRL F1, CTRL A, etc. to different commands. Shortcuts that you define will become a part of the menu configuration file that you export once you have a setup that you like.

Rockpile Solutions subscribers have full access to the Rockpile Custom Menus, Toolbars and Keyboard Shortcuts via the TBC Libraries and Downloads section on the MyRockpile Community (this site).

Command Interface Description

The RPS Toolbar Manager command dialog looks as follows

Use large icons for Quick Access toolbar:
The Quick Access toolbar is the set of icons that are placed typically above your menu ribbons in the TBC interface. The commands that are assigned to this toolbar are managed using the Customize Ribbon command from the Support menu. The size of the icons is typically controlled using the Options command from the Support menu - Use large icons for Quick Access toolbar checkbox. This setting in the Toolbar Manager command provides an additional control access to the icon size management setting. Check the checkbox if you wish the Quick Access Toolbar icons to be large and leave unchecked if you wish them to be smaller.

The setting is stored with your personal Options settings - you can make a backup of these settings using the Support - Options - Manage Options button within the Options command. This creates an Options.bin file that you can save in your TBC Master folder in the Documents folder on you computer as a backup.
