Share Project Template

Now that I have taken the time to build a good Project Template, what is the proper process to share this template with other team members?

This is what I have been doing for years. For myself. I’ve created with all setups of > ribbons, setting, groups, layers, plot sheets, all line types, all text, all blocks, coord system, FXL. Anything I can think and still continue to change my layers and add line types. This template is empty and save it as a project. When I get assigned a new project I just open the empty template I’ve made and do a save as for the new project.
This could be one option to share. Be sure to share dependent project folders with it. If those contain reference file they will want those also. If you ever just decide to do a copy and paste of that project be sure to rename the project folder the same as the tbc project so it recognizes the reference files.

You should take the .vct file and any Images (Logos) that are used from the Project Templates Folder and send the files to those users - they can then place the same files in their Project templates Folder and then when they start a new project it will appear in the list of Templates available.

Make sure that if you have a company Logo on your drawing sheets that they get the logo file and that they place it in the same folder as the VCT file.

Project Templates Folder location can be found under Support - Options - File Locations - Copy the path from here and paste it into File Explorer - I recommend making it a Quick Access location also in your file explorer as it is a hidden folder location on your PC (in most cases)
