PDF Pages - Georeferencing - Vector Snaps and Vectors on Demand

In the video below we show how you can use the following functions

  1. Import a Vector PDF
  2. Georeference rather than place the Vector PDF
  3. Use Vector Snaps while digitizing for increased accuracy
  4. Use Vectors on Demand (an RPS Tool for Takeoff) to extract and elevate Contours as needed

The benefit f this approach is that Georeferencing a Vector PDF is the only TBC function that enables the Vector Snaps in a PDF after it has been Georeferenced. This makes it faster, easier, more accurate to trace / digitize lines from the PDF and also it enables the PDF Vectors on demand command to work - this allows you to pull out linework e.g. Contours from the PDF much faster than digitizing them without the headache of vectorizing the whole PDF file and sorting out the data that is created.

We also recommend that you watch the following videos if interested, they show additional tools that can help you with a Takeoff - I specifically recommend Takeoff Lines as one to watch.

  • PDF Vectors on Demand for pulling out contours and linework as needed from PDF - Click Here
  • Takeoff Lines for Digitizing and elevating lines with arcs - Click Here
  • Multi Offset Lines for modeling Curb - Click Here
  • Crop Crossing for eliminating contours in curb and wall areas - Click Here

Note: PDF Vectors on demand, Takeoff Lines, Multi Offset Lines and Crop Crossing are all proprietary RPS Commands available in the RPS Toolboxes. The Modeling & Estimating Command Library gives you all of these tools and will save you hours of work a week $1085
