Command Licensing and Default Menu Location

  • The Create Hi/Lo Points command is part of the RPS Data Prep Toolbox

Command Description

Creates points at the high and low spots of selected lines, Can also be used to create points at different elevations on e.g. building columns and piers extracted from point clouds to determine verticality or precise positions.


Command Interface Description

The Create Hi/Lo Points command dialog looks as follows

Layer:
The command will create a number of points at the High and Low point locations on the selected lines. Those points will be placed on the later that is selected here.

3D Lines Radio Button:
You can select either 3D linework or a single Alignment in one process of this command. If you select this radio button, you will then select the 3D lines that you wish to analyze.

Alignment Radio Button:
You can select either 3D linework or an Alignment in one process of this command. If you select this radio button, you will then select the horizontal alignment that you wish to analyze. Since a single horizontal alignment can have 2 or more vertical alignments, you will also be asked to select the vertical alignment that you wish to analyze. Because an alignment can have multiple vertical alignments, you can only analyze one alignment at a time.

Select the Horizontal Alignment (Hal)

Select the Vertical alignment (Val)

Point ID:
Enter the starting point ID / Point Number for the points to be created. The Point ID can be Numeric or Alphanumeric. Hover the mouse over the [?] for tips on how to enter Point ID values.

Restart point numbering with each line checkbox:
If you check the check box, each new line that is selected will start numbering at the same value, e.g. if you enter HLP1 as the start number, then each line will have the first point as HLP1.

Feature code:
Enter the Feature code for the points to be created e.g. HILO

Description:
Enter a description for each point to be created.

You can use syntax tools including {N} for the line or alignment name, {VN} for the vertical alignment name (if an alignment was selected) and {HL} for the High Low abbreviations - VHP for Vertical High Point and VLP for Vertical Low Point. FOr example a line called Ditch could be assigned a Description {N}-{HL} and points would be described as Ditch-VHP or DItch-VLP in their properties.

OK
Executes the command and closes on completion

Cancel
Closes the command without further execution.
