Corridor Reporting Question

I have a specific need for something that I was hoping someone had an easy solution for. I have a corridor project and corresponding drone data and progress surfaces from the work completed.

At one point the project sat for an extended period of time and washouts occurred. We flew the site recently before work was done to fix the washouts and then after the washouts were fixed. Is there a nice, concise way to produce a report that compares the two surfaces but only in the areas necessary, without having to draw an AOI or something of that nature?

For example, I’d like to be able to do a surface to surface comparison from STA 20+00 to STA 20+50 with a certain offset from the alignment to encompass the washout but I need to do it ±20 times for the project and have it reported in a presentable way so that I can give it to a client so that we can quantify the rework completed.

I’m sure someone in this group has a nice way to make this happen.

TIA.

Why do you need to separate the 20 areas - just do the comparison between the 2 surfaces over the entire area and then use the plot functions to place Dynaview boundaries around the areas you want to report. You can place 20 frames in a dV collection and then move the frames over the areas of interest and then buikd 20 sheets - one for each area. That way you dont have to plot the whole thing just the 20 areas you care about. You only then have one set of surfaces.

To quantify the 20 areas you will need 20 boundaries - if they are all alignment based then you can use the create boundary function and use alignment based and then set the start and end station and left and righ offset to create the boundaries for the volume calcs.

Then you can run the Earthwork Report with 20 boundaries.

We have a tool in test now that may help with thos reporting - if you have the surfaces and the boundaries please share and i can run a test on it to show the output.

Hey Alan,

The project is 7 miles long and the areas are relatively small areas that we are trying to get paid for doing rework on but I need a concise report on specifically those regions while leaving out the details of the rest of the work. We’ve completed a large area of new stripping and grading of the site but are only looking for information on a few areas where the material was washed away. I need to present it in stations because that is how the project is billed and compensated.

I will try the alignment based boundary function and I will share the results. I can see in my head how I would want this to be reported but I am not sure how to put into words what I am looking for.

Let me call you in the am Tursday
