The following video shows how to utilize the Compute Lot Setback command

Command Interface Description

The Compute Lot Setback command dialog looks as follows

Setback line layer:

This drop menu allows the user to choose which layer the setbacks are drawn on.

Front:

This dialog box allows the user to define the setback distance from the front of the lot, the front of the lot is defined by the users selection at the end of the command.

Left:

This dialog box allows the user to define the setback distance from the left side of the lot, the left side of the lot is defined when the user selects the front of the lot at the end of the command.

Right:

This dialog box allows the user to define the setback distance from the right side of the lot, the right side of the lot is defined when the user selects the front of the lot at the end of the command.

Back:

This dialog box allows the user to define the setback distance from the back of the lot, the back of the lot is defined when the user selects the front of the lot at the end of the command.

Side (Frontage):

This dialog box allows the user to define the setback distance for a side frontage a common example being a secondary street. In order for this to function properly the side frontage set back must be less than the front setback, and there must be an arc on the lot boundary, as shown below:

Because this lot boundary includes an arc, the user may use the Side (Frontage) dialog to define the setback distance on the other side of the arc.

Draw Pad

Draw Pad:
This Toggle will allow the user to choose whether or not a pad is drawn. A pad is an additional rectangle within the lot setback.

Width:
This dialog box allows the user to define a width value for the sides of the rectangle that are parallel to the setback.

Depth:
This dialog box allows the user to define a depth value for the sides of the rectangle that are perpendicular to the setback.

Name:

This dialog box will define the Pad’s Name.

Pad Layer:

This drop menu allows the user to choose which layer the pad is drawn on.

Select lot boundary lines/Pick lot line:

This drop menu allows the user to build setbacks for an individual lot boundary, or multiple lot boundaries together.

Select Lot Boundary Lines

Boundary lines:
This dialog box allows the user to select multiple lot boundaries at once. The “Options” button will give the user quick access to multiple selection tools. These boundaries must be closed

Pick Lot:
This dialog box will allow the user to define the front of a selected boundary and draw the setbacks. The user should click near the front of the lot when selecting the boundary as this click defines the front of the lot.

Pick Lot Line

Reference Line:
This dialog box will allow the user to define the front of an individual boundary and draw the setbacks. The user should click near the front of the lot when selecting the boundary as this click defines the front of the lot.
This boundary must be closed

Pad placement

Pad Placement

Auto
This Toggle allows the user to enable or disable auto placement of the user defined pad. This will cause the pad to draw simultaneously with the setbacks. When enabled the pad will draw from the midpoint of the front setback line. However, when working with trapezoid shaped lots, the user may define the pad orientation by where they select the lot line on the front side of the lot.

  • Clicking the front of lot line near the center of the line will rotate the pad to the average of the orientations of the left and right side lot lines.
  • Clicking the front of lot line near the right hand side will orientate the pad parallel to the right side lot line.
  • Clicking the front of lot line near the left hand side will orientate the pad parallel to the left side lot line.

Pad direction:
This dialog box will allow the user to define an orientation for the pad. This option is only enabled when Auto placement is disabled.

Pad location:
This dialog box will allow the user to define the location for the midpoint of the pad width at which the pad will be drawn. This option is only enabled when Auto placement is disabled.
