Processing 3D Shells from DWG Files in TBC

In the following video we show how you can import 3D Shell objects from DWG files and process them into 3D Surface Models in TBC using RPS Commands.

The video shows

  • How to explode 3D Shell Objects using the RPS Explode Solids command
  • How to use the exploded shell data to create surface models
  • How to use the RPS Filter by Alignment command to extract feature lines from the exploded shell data
  • How to extract feature lines from 3D TIN models using the RPS Extract Surface Features Command
  • How to reduce line nodes in imported contours using the RPS Convert to linestring command
  • How to use Smart Join to join the extracted linework together into continuous lines
  • How to use the RPS Lock views command to review project data
  • How to use the RPS Rotate Plan View command to manage view rotations and reset them back to North Up
  • How to use the RPS New Layer command to create new layers and new layer groups
  • How to use the RPS Relayer command to relayer imported CAD data to your target layers
  • How to use the Regroup function of the Properties Pane to sort imported CAD data into your preferred Layer Groups
  • How to use the RPS Optimize Linestring command to convert chorded 2D or 3D lines into Curvilinear 3D lines that put you back in full control of the data model. AutoCAD cannot support 3D Curvilinear lines so it chords lines in 3D to approximate the original curvilinear geometry with the provided elevations. The original curvilinear lines with 3D vertical geometry are well supported by TBC linestrings.

The 30 minute video showcases a number of RPS Tools and how they can be used to accelerate Data Prep processes in TBC.
