Flipping a set of Cross Sections from the Maine Turnpike Authority

The video below shows how to import and process a set of CAD and PDF Sections (Single Style Sections) from both CAD and PDF sources for the Maine Turnpike Authority.

There were no real issues with the file import or conversion process - we just had to use Geometric selection to eliminate the grid ticks and separate the Grids, Grid Text and Station Labels onto 3 separate layers and the conversion went smoothly. As per normal, the prep work in the plan view graphics while the sections are all 2D is important as a prep process prior to flipping - getting the cad layers separated and getting the lines exploded out first before running the create from CAD process is necessary prior to flipping the data into 3D for modeling purposes.

Some of these sections had a Parabolic Ditch and a rounded embankment slope - you can to a large extent model these using the provided cross sections. if you need to create feature lines between the sections you can use the variable offset line tool to create additional lines to help the model building process.

Hope this helps
